The Hudson NY wedding region

It's no secret that we work in the Hudson Valley region very often. Hudson Valley as an area or term can be confusing. Sometimes venues in Westchester are referred to as being in the Hudson Valley which I guess insinuates they are rustic. Hudson Valley can be anywhere from an hour to ninety minutes outside of the city. Once you are very far north  you hit the Catskills which borders the town of Hudson. Hudson really is its own little new enclave filled with antique shops, good restaurants and an assortment of accommodation options, such as small hip hotels and bed and breakfasts. There are also some new hotels and bed and breakfasts set to open in the area over the next two years. There are many venues in the area both old and new ones in development as well. Hudson is on the Amtrak train line which also makes the area attractive. We have done other blog posts on Hudson Valley venues and we will soon eventually write another one to tack onto the old one. The New York State region has been booming the last few years in every regard. For now, this post will focus on the town of Hudson and the surrounding area that is in part considered the Catskills. Hudson, the upstate Brooklyn is what some call it.

Perhaps the most well known venue in the immediate area is Basilica Hudson. An enormous loft-like industrial space that is yours to create whatever you heart can afford to dream. The space is reasonably priced and you can also bring in whatever caterer is right for your event. There is plenty of workings inside to hang and design to your hearts content. Mis matched chairs are available, as well as, superb louis (oval back) chairs without arms are for rental, an item that is hard to find enough of actually.

Not too far away is The Hill which has a barn that can seat up to 300 guests. Here too you can bring in your own caterer. The barn and The Hill comes with restrooms, restroom attendants and bistro lights. Also, very close to central Hudson!

The Barn at Liberty Farms and the farm itself is a new hot place to get married. Recently renovated the Barn at Liberty Farms can accommodate up to 140 people seated and you can also do a tented wedding on the field. The grounds are gorgeous for photography and this barn is renovated and will be a Hudson Valley Farm Wedding Venue that your parents will actually approve of!

For a change of wedding venue scenery you can head onto Omi International Arts Center in nearby Ghent, NY.  Similar to Storm King further South, which is getting a ton of buzz too, Omi has a few options for a tented affair amongst the outdoor sculpture garden and some inside areas to help in the event of rain.

Barn on the Pond has been a go to Hudson Valley rustic wedding venue for some time now. Along with accommodations up to eleven people, perfect for you bridal party, this 100 people or less wedding venue is an easy, cozy choice for couples looking to get married amongst the Catskill Mountains. Everywhere you look are the mountains. For the rustic or hippie or casual, not too fancy couple that wants to feel right at home, this venue would work.

Owls Hoot Barn in nearby West Coxsackie can accommodate up to 180 inside the barn. Beautiful setting and an easy barn to dress up to your rustic heart's delight.

Perhaps one of the coolest venues into the area is The Kaaterskill which can accommodate 20 guests in one of its Barn houses and also four guest suites can accommodate eight adults and perhaps some children. The Red Barn at Kaaterskill can ccomodate 150 inside with more outside tented. There are also options for ceremony and cocktail hour in the event of rain. Beautiful Catskill Mountains all around, this is an excellent choice for a weekend wedding getaway not too far from NYC.
